Went to the Fay Gold Art Gallery in Atlanta Wednesday. They were displaying some of Ansel Adams' and Bob Kolbrener's work. Two amazing film photographers. For those of you who don't know, Ansel Adam's created what is called "The Zone System" for film photography in 1941. This basically revolutionized the art of photography. Bob Kolbrener was a protoege of Ansel's. Bob was taught the zone system directly from it's creator.

Anyway, enough of the history lesson. Although Ansel Adams is no longer with us, Bob is still very much alive and my friends and I had the honor to speak with him at the gallery. It was absolutely amazing. This guy has not once touched a digital camera. His work has always been film based. As he gave us his wise advice, we stood in front of an amazing print he took. It was a framed 60 X 100" print of this beautiful water fall flowing through massive rocks, taken with a film camera. The amount of patience and work it took to develop and print this image was an epic process.

You should deffinitly Google his stuff. The one thing I regret is not shaking his hand. He wished us the best that night we left, gave me a pat on the arm with a gentle smile, direct eye contact and said, "Good luck". I guess I was afraid to shake his hand. I figured he had done a lot of hand shaking that day and would have been worn from it, but I also knew he wasn't. Oh well, I MET BOB KOLBRENER MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER!!! !!

So yea, that's been the sum of my exciting week. Tomorrow is Ashley's birthday. She will be 17 and that much closer to a two year relationship between us. If you are reading this pooky, I love you! I now part randomly with this quote in my signature.
